Letter To '07 Incoming Reivers,

Dear 2007 Incoming Reivers,

Welcome to a winning tradition! We are excited to have you joined in the success of the soccer program at Iowa Western Community College. The Reiver soccer program is of high caliber and has generated success since the inaugural season in 2004. Part of our success has been due to our appearance both on and off of the field. We have a very generous budget that allows us to purchase items for each player. These items will facilitate your development while you are here at Iowa Western as well as assist you in your ability to proceed after your time as a Reiver. To ensure that our program has the appropriate gear to help you while you are here, we are asking that you pay $75 for the mandatory “Reiver Gear”. Aside from the mandatory $75 amount, we also will allow you to purchase any other items that will help you focus on your game and academics.

Whenever there is a team activity, everybody wears the “Reiver Gear.” Some examples of why we make it mandatory for you to wear your gear are given in the scenarios listed below.

IN TRAINING

When we train, we do so as a complete unit. The unit is well disciplined and structured. We feel strongly that as you all wear the same attire you excel due to the professional atmosphere and minimized distractions.

Your training attire every day is as listed below:

-Outdoor Soccer Boots

-Shin Guards Covered by Royal Blue Soccr Socks of your choice (we have made cheap socks available to you in the “optional items” section on your Reiver Gear Catalog).

-Black Soccer Shorts (we suggest that you wear the matching adidas Calico shorts that have been made available to you in the “optional items” section on your Reiver Gear Catalog. We suggest them, but they are not mandatory).

-Adidas Calcio Training Shirt (we have made this item available to you in the “mandatory items” section of your Reiver Gear Catalog). We recommend that you purchase multiple training shirts, but no more than three, as we plan on washing these for you every day after training. You will only have one opportunity to make this order so please be wise and order the appropriate amount of Training Shirts the first time.

*In inclement weather, you will be permitted to train in your Adidas Training Jacket and pants as well as your Adidas Calcio Rain Jacket (we have made all three of these items available to you in the “mandatory items” section of your Reiver Gear Catalog).

IN TRAVEL AND TEAM FUNCTIONS/MEETINGS

When we travel we all dress the same:

-Khaki (light brown/tan) shorts or pants that are modest in length and fit. Wearing shorts that are not close to your knees or that do not fir around your waist will not be allowed. We look sharp in travel and act professional in public.

-Adidas United Polo (part of your “mandatory items” in the Reiver Gear Catalog).

*In inclement weather you will be permitted to train in your Adidas Training Jacket and pants as well as your Adidas Calcio Rain Jacket (we have made all three of these items available to you in the “mandatory items” section of your Reiver Gear Catalog).

PLEASE NOTE

All items in the “suggested items” section are exactly that, suggestions. Through our experience we have learned that the items in this Reiver Gear Catalog allow our players to act and feel professional. We have also learned that these items allow our players to focus on training as well as be comfortable in the multiple climates we encounter here in the Midwest.

PLEASE FILL OUT THE REIVER GEAR CATOLOG RIGHT AWAY AND SEND IT IN. YOU WILL BE BILLED FOR HALF OF THE TOTAL AMOUNT JUNE 1ST AND AGAIN ON JULY 1ST FOR THE REMAINING HALF. WE NEED THESE FILLED OUT AND POSTMARKED (IN THE MAIL) NO LATER THAN MONDAY, APRIL 16TH. THE CATALOG WILL BE MADE AVAILABLE HERE SOON.
